March 22, 2019 - Firm tannins beginning to soften, dark fruit with hints of tobacco, medium weight with bramble acidity to finish

November 22, 2017 - An excellent Margaux for the price of 23Euro - buy again! Why did I only buy 3 :-)
Look forward to taste it as starter for the 2. cru wine from Gassies. but this is very good on its own. Nice bouquet and taste of Margaux.
Pleasant wine to drink now, not too much tannin. Can also lie a few more years without problem.

September 18, 2017 - Medium bodied, with a cherry, tobacco tinged, floral nose. Soft, but with firm tannins, and a finish that is about its red berry freshness, more time is still required here, for this to come together.

September 18, 2015 - perfume and some roasty oak on the nose
Firm tannin with some good ripe dark fruit underneath
This is still very youthful but drinking nicely and showing some potential
Perhaps never going to be great but lots to like here.
I'd keep for five years before broaching again.

April 19, 2015 - MW Institute 2010 Bordeaux Tasting (Sydney, Australia): Mild nose - seems shut down - with earth and blackcurrant. The tannins are quite aggressive and the fruit feels held back. Hard to approach and enjoy at this time.

(Château Rauzan-Gassies) Very dark red violet color; appealing, tart black currant, mocha nose; tasty, tart black currant, mocha, pencil lead palate; medium-plus finish (85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot)

(Chateau Rauzan-Gassies (Margaux)) A wine strong on Cabernet here, with 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and just 13% Merlot, with 2% Petit Verdot to complete the blend. A dark-plum hue here with a dense rim. The nose is remarkably bright, with a lot of pure and well defined cassis fruit. I'm rather taken aback; I've never experienced such a confident and focused Gassies. On the palate it begins in a rather cool fashion, polished at the start, then showing a lot of defining acid all around it. There is a touch of coffee here, quite a sweetness to the fruit but there are savoury elements too. Well judged, rather an appealing fruit style, still showing that coffee-ground note through to the finish though. Rather bright and clean in its composition, with nicely crystalline fruit. Slightly chocolatey tannins coming in, and a touch juicy too in truth, but this seems really well composed. This is a great effort for this estate, comparable to the very admirable 2009.
