March 16, 2015 - Very deep garnet color with reddish brick tones. Nice nose of cherries, plums, and pine notes. Medium-full body on the palate, with dark flavors of iron filings, black cherry. Acidity is pretty smoothed out by time, though it's firm enough for enjoyment. Finish retains a bit of grip with near-zero tannins. What happens when you drink a good-but-not-great wine almost 7 years after harvest? Textbook case here. When this wine was first reviewed by V.Boone in July 2011 in the Wine Enth., she gave it 91 pts. and said to age it another 3-5 years. Well here we are and the wine has smoothed out, yes, but not much else has happened. The wine is def. drinkable but the overall picture is only OK.

August 6, 2014 - DTR has long been a go-to CdP slayer but they've changed their sources a bit, and they say for the better. I notice a little less heat, which isn't really a big problem to begin with, but also a little less exuberance. Maybe moving towards a Vacqueyras killer, but that's not the same value proposition. Still, Easton does a really fine job making Rhone style wines in California at prices that make some sense. I'll be interested in the next few vintages as this wine evolves.

July 24, 2014 - A Rhone style GSM bought at the winery in Amador Co. Liked it then and like it now. Blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre. Medium bodied that went well with marinated flank steak and veggies.

February 25, 2014 - Excellent rhone blend. Very well balanced with fresh red and black fruit, black cherry, supple and fine tannins, nice round mouth feel and a real nice finish.

August 15, 2012 - Enjoyed the wine a lot! It seemed to mature with air (after an hour or so). Light to medium body, sort of a modern style southern Rhone blend. Well balanced, acidic with some tannins. All good.
