August 12, 2022 - An outstanding value for money wine, given the current silly pricing! For $AUD35, this had an enjoyment factor as good as any premier cru Burgundy. But I digressed.

Possibly one of the most German like riesling that I have tasted in a long time. With the passage of time, it has developed lovely notes of honey, orange / citrus, ginger and grapefruit. Still plenty of acidity left and very mouth filling, not linear like some other Australian rieslings. A lovely finish with intensity and depth a hint of smokiness. Only thing that was missing was the depth of complexity that tended to fade before you can catch it.

December 25, 2018 - Nice enough, very dry for an off dry rizza, needs more time to develop as it’s lacked punch.

September 8, 2014 - Tasted at home with family in Mid-Autumn Festival in Hong Kong, paired with homemade Soy Sauce Chicken.

Opened with surprisingly large amount of petillance (even comes with a small 'pop' sound when opened so well suited for celebrations!), this is a wine made in more towards the typical German style, with smoke, florals, minerality and rounded citrus and grapefruit flavours enveloped in refreshing acidity. Smoke is evident on the nose and even more pronounced on the palate and tastes almost like the lovely toasty oak of the finest white Burgundy. Very pure expression of the fine varietal characteristics of the Riesling grape.

I originally expected the 10.5% vol. alcohol to imply an off-dry style but I am quite wrong indeed. The number feels like an understatement in reality as the wine is packed with powerful, yet elegant flavours and is very much dry in style.

For the more technical bunch, the wine is clear pale gold with legs, acidity is high, with medium body and pronounced flavours on the palate mentioned above (medium+ intensity, developing aromas on the nose). Finishes long especially on the nice smoky flavours. Quality is very good. A wine of amazing value.

Overall, this wine manages to be both easy-going and structured which I found difficult to see in many other Australian wines I have had so far. It is well balanced and with this level of structure and acidity, expect much potential for ageing (I am not opening another bottle in 2-3 years!)

December 4, 2012 - Good but young wine. Needed 1-2hr of air to begin to open, making wine richer and longer in length... but by which time the bottle had finished. More notes to follow with next bottle, but seems that this needs to be tucked away for at least 2yrs.

October 7, 2011 - Best's Great Western Tasting (Best's Great Western Cellar Door): The standout wine of the tasting, with a nose of citrus blossom and lime leaf and a great sugar/acid balance on the palette.
