February 16, 2024 - Jon's 50th Birthday Dinner: Opened for an hour. Great color and wonderfully mature white Burg. Softer and more rounded compared to the 2010.

September 28, 2022 - Golden colour. Lovely nose that became steelier with air. Rich, golden honey notes. Slightly waxy/oily. Tiny bit of alcohol/heat but I’m nitpicking.

September 28, 2022 - Some wet wool and lanolin on the entry, slightly more rounded, richer and luxurious than the JM Boillot 2006 Batard, also in a very good place, refined and glorious.

February 23, 2022 - 2001 Burgs (Noize): Really not that evolved, and in great condition. Immediately obvious depth to the nose, which was complex and herbaceous and (suprisingly) retained a hint of reduction even at age 21. The palate seemed to shimmer, had a subtle power, and some spice and sharpness - again very youthful for its age. My overall impression was of a restrained class, and it would have been nice to follow the wine over a longer period, ideally from a larger glass, to appreciate its many layers more fully.

February 3, 2022 - Opened at 1947 in Courchevel. P&P and enjoyed over dinner.

We had two bottles, both of which were excellent and consistent. No extensive notes taken but enjoyed very much. Still quite youthful and expressive, in a great spot.

May 10, 2021 - This was in stonkingly good form. There’s a whiff of matchstick to the aroma. It has a suggestion of pineapple, rockmelon and mango and such an intense core of flavour. It is layered, voluminous and long, carried by a fine line of minerally acidity.

September 12, 2020 - Excellent example and condition. Smoking reduction over beautiful white florals and intensely powerful yellow Chardonnay fruit. Excellent white oak spice. Wolfgang Grunewald bottle, consistently great showings. Consumed on the beach in Fury Cove, top end of Queen Charlotte Sound.

August 22, 2020 - This showed great intensity and acidity at first and it clearly seemed the better of the two vintages (2000) but that did change with air as this became a bit too taut and strict. Right out of the bottle though, this had lovely cut and sweet yellow fruits but it somehow began to go sideways in the late innings. 92-
