May 20, 2022 - A broader, fruiter nose than I expected - pear and honey. Medium acidity, medium mouthfeel. More honey and pear in the mouth. Not as precise as I would have expected. However, lovely wine. Drinking well. I don't know enough of the Donnhoff GGs to know if it will get better. ??

A bit riped for his age, especially in the nose but in the palate cleaner and more precise. Nevertheless remembering more to a 2009 or 2011 than 2010. Not a perfect bottle. 91 -

May 28, 2020 - Ripe yellow fruits and fresh green herbs on the nose. On the palate citrus, limestone, soft peach and fresh cut green grass. Beautiful mineral notes too. Medium bodied with a medium intense and very refreshing acidity. Great depth and complexity. Medium long and juicy finish.

2011 German Catalog, 3/1/2011 (link)(Dönnhoff Felsenberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs) ($69.00) The small crop precluded the making of a sweet wine from this site in ’10. This is a smoky and somewhat stern fellow, he loves a small number of people and of course his dog, who is his secret sentimental schnooky. But most people would find him, not austere but forbidding. If he knows you care or are serious he opens his mind to you, and he has a fierce proud intellect. The smell of smoke clings to him – he’s as self-sufficient as a tree. You will never forget a thing he says, if you learn how to listen.
