    August 25, 2019 - No additional tasting notes from what has already been posted. Decanted for 2 hrs, it did lighten up but the tannins still a bit astringent. Would not use the term velvety or elegant for this one. Not bad, but hopefully the tannins will settle down a bit before I dive into the next bottle. EDIT: Saved the last glass for dinner. Spicy lamb rogan josh. This cut right through those tannins and really let the wine shine. Added a point after the food pairing.

    August 8, 2019 - Nice but not pronounced fruit. No one flavor dominates. Still tannic and astringent throughout. Opened up to have a more elegant finish and balance after about an hour and a half in the decanter.

    June 12, 2019 - Drank at a friend's house, not my bottle. I will describe this wine as middling, with a slight chance of improvement with age. There was plenty of dark cherry fruit, and a hint of spice. The tannins weren't harsh, so to speak, but the firmness seemed to override the fruit and just stretch it out a little too far. I am wondering if it is youngish still, or if the fruit will ever catch up and balance the wine. It was drinkable, and the bottle was finished, so no alarm bells if you have them.

    May 10, 2019 - Friday Tasting Group: In HONOR of 1 of the Group's Mentors (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): 57% C.S., 40% Merlot, & 3% C.F. grown in deep gravels & gravels on clay; Harvested by hand in small crates, 100% vinified in s/s, & aged 16-18 mos (50% new barrels);

    N: Slightly closed; RIPE berries with undertones of earth?

    P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by some puckerish astringency which only somewhat resolves by the LONG, slightly bitterish finish. Might still improve? 13.0% ABV; My EXC-, as this IS *ult* somewhat pleasant. 92 pts Neal Martin's Wine Journal, 17.5/20 winedoctor.com, 16.5/20 Jancis Robinson (8/14/17), & NUMEROUS other reviews & accolades on wine-searcher's "Tasting Notes" pg. [As of mid May '19, wine-searcher still shows several vendors from $80-$99.]

    Note: My TN of 3/8/2019 was WAY more positive.

    (Chateau Lafon-Rochet St Estèphe) A new label and matching capsule for the 2000 vintage. This is a dense, glossy, youthful looking wine, with a very expressive nose, throwing out aromas of coffee, chocolate, exotic spices and sweet fruit pastilles. This all says 2000 to me. The palate is full, sweet and rich. There is a good structure although the tannins do not dominate, and only make a strong showing on the finish. It is big, dense, and packed with fruit and creamy texture, although still with a St Estèphe hardness. Balanced.
