February 4, 2023 - NK Monprivato Vertical (Chez Goldberg, Greenwich Village, NYC): [Opened around 3:30 pm and double-decanted around 6:30pm.] The most forward wine since the 1990. Sweet fruit and spice in the nose. Sweet and spicy in the mouth with delicious long fruit finish. Time to start drinking these.

February 4, 2023 - Double decanted in the AM, drunk over several hours.

Bouillon, red fruits, balsam and soy on the nose. More mature than expected. Reasonable body and structure but faded. I've not had the vintage, but suspect this may not hav been an ideal bottle, and if it is, then drink up yesterday. Judgement and scored reserved.

November 9, 2022 - 16/09/07/06/04/03/01/99/98 vertical. Sadly off - shows more oxidative than it should. perfect cork, FWIW.

November 9, 2022 - Monprivato dinner at Osteria Langhe (Chicago, IL): No. 14341. Likely heat-damaged or some such. Musty/bretty notes of soy here. Better on the palate, but that's not saying very much.

August 14, 2022 - Magnificent! From a magnum I’ve stored perfectly since release. Incredibly light and ethereal yet with latent power. Nose of red and black fruits, menthol top notes and autumnal base. Ultra-fine and long. Tannins are carried by superb acidity in good length, commanding a good meal to accompany!

(Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo Monprivato) Light medium red color with clarity and clear meniscus; sexy, berry, dried berry, caramel, incense and smoke nose, that changes after more than an hour in the glass to a smoked bacon nose; tasty, tart berry, oak, tart cherry, vanilla and roasted meat palate with sweet tannins; medium finish

(Giuseppe Mascarello Monprivato) Now we are talking. This wine was singing today. Sligtly muted nose of old wood, white pepper and rose. Great palate of with elegant ripe fruit intermingled with complex minerality. Very floral palate. Incredible length. Soft, grainy tannins. This had a subtltle structure and wondered how long it would age.
