February 16, 2024 - Pop and pour. In the glass, a lovely clear amber/orange. On the nose, mango, ripe apple, and a touch of pineapple. On the palate, this continues to move directly towards dessert wine territory; while there is ample acidity, and some background notes of slate, the combination of tropical fruit, residual sugar, and an unctuous mouthfeel take this somewhere much closer to Sauternes than to a mineral-driven Riesling. Plan accordingly. With a mild Thai curry, very nice.

October 19, 2023 - Sweeter and darker than the bottle I tried last year. Nose of pineapple juice, mango, apricot marmalade, vanilla custard, and lime zest. Full bodied with a thick viscosity, juicy acid, and a Spatlese level of sugar. Flavors include slightly tart pineapple, mango, peach, baking spice, lime, and maple syrup. Very fleshy and juicy. Hard to tell whether this will improve with more time or start dropping out soon.

July 30, 2023 - 75th Birthday party. Easily dessert sweet, as expected, and utterly delicious.

February 4, 2023 - Surprisingly dark golden color, hints of red even. Initially quite sweet but there is so much acid and dry extract to balance things out. A great dessert in a glass.

(Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling "Rotlay") ($54.00) This is a relative giant. It will take years to exhale its deep held breath, as if it comes from the belly of a blue whale. Picked en bloc with 145° Oechsle – I mean, come on! You don’t cut it with a knife and fork, you take a jackhammer to it.**

(Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling 'Rotlay') Light yellow color; rich tart peach, light apricot nose; very tasty, rich but poised, ripe peach, tart apricot palate with cut and beautiful acidity; long finish 95+ points (almost TBA)
