February 5, 2022 - Half bottle. Mildly disappointing, or perhaps too subtle compared to the full-throttle wine that'd preceded it. Not especially sweet although packed full of botrytis, some eucalyptus honey and stone fruit. Enjoyable, but I would have liked more intensity and complexity.

October 8, 2017 - Absolutely stunning. Started out with petrol and slate aromas, and flavors as though it was only a 2 or 3 year old auslese. As it warmed, it turned into a bomb of apricot, honey and lemon drops. Probably the most dense auslese I've ever had. Very near TBA as others have said. The finish just never quits. Crazy good.

February 16, 2017 - AP 17 11. God damn is this a potent wine! Hard to describe actually, since I haven't tasted much else like this. Has the flavor density, gravity, and acidity of a trockenbeerenauslese, but without the denseness and viscosity. Absolutely overwhelms one's pallet it is so electric and rich, and will completely overwhelm any food this is paired with. A stunning dessert wine experience, although it certainly won't be to everyone's liking.

June 9, 2015 - Quite brawny for a 2010, a touch of botrytis. Loads of potential...deep and rich. Ripe peaches and apricots are main fruits.

June 9, 2015 - Chicago ♥ Selbach-Oster (Chicago, IL): #17-11, 7.5% abv. Apricots, stone fruits, and a slight bit of botrytis spice as well? I know 2010 isn't a super botrytis vintage but hey, you taste what you taste. Intensely sweet but that powerful 2010 acidity holds everything in check. One of the heftiest wines we tasted tonight, I really liked the potency here, and many good things lie ahead for this powerful riesling.

(Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese**) ($57.00) This is probably the very finest mega-rich Auslese Johannes has made; it has a clear stream of lime and pêche-de-vigne; a perfectly streamlined yet huge Auslese, from below the sundial, 80+ year vines; it’s juicy and addictively tasty yet entirely proud and serious and yet with no affect of seriousness; it’s not huffy. ***
