October 28, 2019 - Brilliant Yellowish hue. The wood has integrated well. Ripe mirabelles and lemon aromas. Silky mouthfeel and the wished for saltyness and chalkyness. The acidity is high, but of great quality. Overall wonderful, but not quite as exciting as I had hoped for. Went well with salmon pastry. Big glasses seemed right. Drink or hold.

September 3, 2012 - Weingut Von Winning - "The Wines from Pfalz" (Scandic KNA Oslo): Flaxen colour, a bit golden. Intense tropical nose. Pineapple and grapefruit. Pure aroma. High grapefruit-like acidity. Dry. Greath lenght.
In general, I really like the 2010 vintage. -

June 21, 2011 - Power and austerity in a glass. There's some pale Riesling fruit, but it's really about its stony, chalky minerality and conveys it without much finesse or elegance, and some finishing heat.

2011 German Catalog, 3/1/2011 (link)(von Winning Kalkofen Riesling Grosses Gewächs) ($85.00) Back to Deidesheim, but this “chalk-oven” is far from demure. It’s the easiest wine in the sequence to grasp; it’s about corn. Roasted, pureed, fried into chips; it’s big, generous and casky, enveloping and comes right at you. Only a slight asperity in the finish precludes a second plus.
