Community Tasting Notes 10

March 27, 2017 - First taste with Coravin. After a note of oak, totally mute at the opening and takes at least an hour to resurrect. Nose first, and then palate, gradually. Thick and rude, rusty also, at the beginning. Then leather, earth, underbrush, licorice, and then, time after time, notes of red fruit. Tannins stil alive and kicking, at least five years ahead. You may drink it alone, but probably best paired with beef stew. Typical Taurasi, btw.
Second taste with Coravin (April 2nd, 2017). Thick and bitter, rusty and burst.Sediment. Hard to drink it alone.
Third taste, final (April 6th, 2017). Lots of sediment, thick, astringent, wild. Again pair with stufato or brasato

December 26, 2016 - Tawny and quite deep intensity. Spicy, jammy, bark, pepper, eucalyptus on the nose.
Acidic (medium to high), very tannic, extremely well blended (15% alcohol). Bitterness, pepper, chilli pepper. Super long finish - a huge wine...
Probably at (or slightly past) its peak right now.

September 4, 2014 - Catching some of the Southern Italian Soul; 9/4/2014-9/7/2014 (Napoli-Italia): Pairing a fabulous grilled scottona marchigiana steak at Fattoria del Campiglione.
Showing why a Taurasi of real class can match many international winner awards bottles. Also those hunters of points.
    Complex perfumed, lovely tasty.
This denomination requires some patience. That's all.
Highly recommended for those who really like something different but at the same time a wine of distinction.

    Complejamente perfumada, maravillosamente sabrosa.

March 8, 2012 - wicked harsh tannins on the finish that make the flavors drop off a cliff. huge wine on the front end: thick, tarry but a good chunk of the fruit has left the house. don't see much upside in holding this longer and didn't find any pleasure in drinking this.
