Community Tasting Notes 5

July 4, 2016 - A touch of age at the rim. Lovely nose with cedar, graphite and good dark cherry and black currant fruit. The palate is smooth, with lots of fruit mixed with some leather and spice notes, just a bit of tannin remains, nice acidity and finish, from a lesser year and not a great period for the chateau, this is drinking beautifully and delivers more pleasure than expected

October 16, 2012 - A very enjoyable wine. Still fresh and holding onto some of its tannin despite being 10 years old. This one will certainly last a little longer. It has a lovely if understated nose, plenty of fruit on the palate and a medium tannins. With decanting it opens up a little more, gives that great Margaux aroma and flavour, and any tannin left melts away to reveal fruit. Loved this over two nights.

May 12, 2012 - Le Week-end des Grands Crus (Bordeaux): Good fruit, still some tannins, leave it another year!

April 29, 2011 - Drank at Brasserie du Lac, Relais de Margaux Hotel. (1/2 bottle). Nice, dark, ruby red. Terroir all over the nose. Initially a bit upfront on the palate, but to be expected. Will re-visit in 30 minutes or so. Ah, it is open and excellent. Exceedingly nice wine drinking well now.

February 22, 2009 - Vertical of Rauzan-Gassies: Smoke from a smothering fire underlined by floral tones. Primarily berryish but with a sudden burst of beef jerky and meatiness. A disturbing streak of bitter roots and slightly hollow though.
