March 15, 2021 - Deep garnet red. Layered nose with leather, tobacco, blackberry, and purple flowers. Medium tannins (5.5/10) and medium minus bodied. Complex palate with black currants, plums, earthiness and spices. Medium plus finish. Drink now.

September 6, 2016 - Dark, delicious and drinking perfectly. Still lots of fruit, warmth, long lingering finish and I can't wait to open another. Will perhaps last another year to 18 months but I am sure I will have drunk mine by then. Exellent value, if you get the chance to pick one up for under £25 I'd definately buy one. Worth £80 in a restaurant.

January 28, 2016 - Ah, Maucaillou. One of the only sub-$30 Bordeaux that doesn't end its life as sauce Bordelaise. Good for the year; full and rich but not fat or notably hot. The profile reflects a vintage I typically loathe, but not in an unpleasing manner this time; darker than most Maucaillou; chocolate, blackberry. This evolved nicely with 60 minutes in a decanter, the Riedel somm helped accentuate the depth of the wine. Should hold a few years yet. The CT drinking window on this is too early for my taste.

September 1, 2015 - Better than previous bottles. Actually, this one was better kept, and it paid off. Decanted for 1h. Fully mature, nice bouquet, very soft tannins, medium body and pleasant medium finish. Drink now.
