November 24, 2012 - Lovely nose of anise and earth tinged cherries, feminine for an '03, excellent ripeness in the nose. Palate light version of the nose, with some tannins and acid remaining, but too light for a higher mark. Cork in perfect condition, so I'm guessing this will open with some time in the decanter.

July 8, 2012 - Drinking really nicely. Lot of bottle variation though, one was really bretty, corked soaked almost all the way through. Needs drinking.

I know these were shipped to the US temperature controlled, so whatever happened to the bottles was either at the winery or shipping to the UK.

April 29, 2010 - This is drink great right now. It has softened noticeably since the last time I tasted it. Secondary flavors have started to come it. It has a wonderful Burgundy earthiness to it. And it still has very nice fruit. Not surprising for a 2003, this is not classic Volnay, but it is certainly delicious. For me this wine is at peak. I plan to drink up the rest of mine over the next year.

July 1, 2007 - Decrepit cork proved awfully difficult to remove. Wine unaffected.

Lovely nose of ripe red cherries, raspberries and hints of earth/ dry leaves. The palate mirrored the nose supported by an elegant tannic structure and (almost) medium acidity. Would have traded some of the ripeness for a tad more complexity. Enjoyable nonetheless.

May 22, 2007 - My cork had been stained all the way up to the top as well. Maybe shipping was hot? Anyhoo..

Nose of strawberry, kirsch, and dust. Full bodied with nice grip but the tannins are very edgy.

April 17, 2007 - Quite full and sweet. Low acidity. Nice but faded on the second day so maybe the 03s arent ageable.

March 12, 2006 - Fairly pale; muffled nose, though plenty underneath; dry, black fruits, well proportioned, some tannin on a vigorous, ext'd finish. More Pommard than Volnay, rather solid. 15

December 18, 2005 - Medium ruby color. The cork had red staining all the way up the sides; that concerned me, but I didn't notice anything obviously off in the wine ... still, worth noting. Decanted about half an hour prior. On the nose, red fruits (strawberry, kirsch) predominated; a bit of toast, almonds, a touch of earthiness. It was relatively weak, but did open a bit over the dinner; I'd give it an hour or more in the decanter. On the palate it's pretty full bodied and a bit rustic, with a lot of tannin. Not bad overall.
