December 31, 2021 - Des légères particules déposées au fond du décanteur mais quelles expressions de fruits noirs. Des tannins soyeux avec une superbe finale.
July 27, 2021 - Cork crumbled. Deep dark ruby. Intense aromas of black cherries, blackcurrants, leather, dark chocolate, minerals. Full bodied, dense, medium+ acidity, integrated tannins. Taste of black cherries, cassis, baked plum, dark chocolate. Long.
December 6, 2020 - Okay - I've been holding this bottle for 5 years, so the anticipation has built....
Popped and decanted through Vitouri - lots of sediment. Gorgeous deep red, a hint of purple. Tight nose of black fruit and minerals. Palate is tight as well - initially tart, sour fruit, medium tannins. 14.5% alcohol is evident on back of throat. Let's give it some air time in the decanter.
Opened up and softened tremendously after an hour+ of air - much better! Black tea, leather, mild spice, rich fruit. Wonderful.

November 23, 2017 - Cata Histórica Puntido y Victorino con Marcos Eguren (Bodega Santa Cecilia - Madrid): Punch of milky chocolate. It does not have much depth, being more direct and mineral. I love that nose. Surprisingly soft on the palate. Even easy. Sharp acidity in just measure to accompany food. I do not think it's what Eguren was looking for. And I do not think it's a bottle for the long term either.
Puñetazo de chocolate con leche. No tiene mucha profundidad, mostrándose más directo y mineral. Me encanta en nariz. Sorprendentemente suave en boca. Incluso facilón. Acidez afilada en justa medida para acompañar comida. No creo que sea lo que Eguren buscaba. Y tampoco creo que sea una botella para el largo plazo.
October 5, 2015 - Slow ox for 1 hour then Vinturi. Interesting nose of dark plum, menthol, and wood putty. Full and rich on the attack. Dark fruit with mid tier tannin structure. Several notches better than the Almirez from the same producer. Satisfying finish. This can easily go another 5 + years for better integration. Paired with a simple meatball parm sub.
May 10, 2015 - Beaucoup de bois, une chance que c'est du chêne français. Pas mal de matière. Avec un peu de temps ça pourrait devenir un Tempranillo plus raffiné.
