February 24, 2019 - This needed some time to open up. After an hour the fruit from the Syrah was able to come through and balance out the Cabernet Sauvignon. I probably held it a bit longer than needed but still a nice enjoyable wine.
November 13, 2016 - Deep dark purple in color with broad slow legs. Smoke and spice aromas. This is drinking really nicely now with dark dried fruit flavors-- currant and blackberry. Plenty of Justin Smoke.
January 10, 2016 - Mellowed out only a little-still juicy, spicy, and great with some meatballs.
June 7, 2015 - Deep, deep reddish purple. Upon opening, nose displays blackberry, and grape stem.
Tannins are reasonably integrated, as are the acids and mouthfeel is firm, yet supple.
Dried cherry eventually dominates the flavor profile, along with red & purple berry, prune, stone fruit, herbaceous notes and marshmallow.
Really rather enjoyable.
December 28, 2014 - This wine was great! Smooth and full flavored on opening; soft tannins; layered dark red fruit with good balance; long finish.
October 3, 2014 - slightly spicy, heavy texture, blackberry notes, very nice lingering flavor
June 8, 2014 - Decanted 4 hrs before tasting, another 2 before started drinking at dinner party. Wonderful meaty wine. Nice balance
June 6, 2014 - Great fruit on the nose, limited flavor profile, not much finish
April 29, 2014 - Dark black fruits (blackberry preserves and plum jam); big, port like and every bit of 15.5% abv but not hot; tobacco leaf and vanilla. Usually not my style and a bit over the top, but Justin does big wines well.
August 16, 2013 - A very good blend (syrah/cab) Good fruit, full mouthfeel, smooth
