Community Tasting Notes 4

December 7, 2014 - Well integrated medium body (some tea) fruit with a good finish that has held up well. Good sipping or with beef.

December 30, 2009 - Pasta dinner. Dark red and leggy to the rim. On the open a pungent sangio aroma takes center stage, with dusty cranberry and tangy candied strawberry and cherry notes with a musk. Round and a bit thin in the mouth, there's a flinty acidic note that detracts from the attack. The fruit takes on a tart profile, harboring sour cherry, citric pith, grapefruit, some rhubarb as well. Little tannins to speak of, so the finish is smooth and silky. The 14.8% heat creeps into the game late. Better day two +, the ascorbidity toned down and the wine picked up body and heaviness more in tune with the structure needed. More dark fruits have come out to play. Final analysis - best on day 4+, where it drank like a wine 4-5 points higher.

September 1, 2009 - Earth, cherry, and red fruit. Good mouthfeel for an otherwise one-dimensional wine.

February 3, 2005 - Nice, mature, warm, with a fairly long finish for what it is.
