  September 13, 2011 - Pinot noir Italian style. Not great but not bad, I've had much worse. It is amazing how much the black cherry flavors on this Pinot resemble the black cherry on many of the Chianti's I've tasted. Basically true to the varietal. Darker color than usual. Probably a little heavier on the mouth feel. Still by no means complex, but well within the easy drinking expectations of a Pinot and Zin drinker. More toward that graphite, lead pencil flavor than would be expected for a Pinot, but still tasty. Surprising tannins. Lots of dark cherry. Certainly not designed to age, just drink up. Cherty, tannin and some heavy toast oak (chips) on the finish. Only about $9. Can be sipped without food, which is unusual for an Italian red. Not bad at all.
