June 17, 2020 - PnP. Fragrant red fruit and roses. Tannins are very prevalent and drying even after an hour in the glass. This needs another 10 years and it’s unclear if the tannins will fully integrate. That said, the fruit is tasty, the acidity gives it nice freshness, and the complexity is there.

April 8, 2020 - A tannic and wild beast still but starting to drink very well. Probably needs another 5-10 years before it’s even approaching maturity.

December 16, 2019 - Decanted for one hour and poured back to the bottle to serve. Animal, black currants, minerals and herbs. A powerful wine with finesse. Lush fruit but not overwhelming. Fun to drink but it must go along with food. 91-92

February 18, 2019 - PnP, then consumed over two nights. Pretty unforgiving tannins on initial pour, this started to soften up after a couple of hours. Blackberries and raw earth that can come from nowhere else on the planet. Tannins remained pretty chewy on night two, but a certain finesse emerged, while still having a marvelous rawness to it. Love Sagrantino, love Paolo Bea. A match made in heaven, also known as Umbria. Feel like this was opened 10-15 years too early.
