  April 14, 2013 - Purple color belied its age. The nose displayed cassis, dark cherry, and smokey notes. The palate was in no danger of fading and provided comforting cassis, black cherry, licorice, and smokey flavors. The tannins were fully resolved and the balanced acidity created lovely balance and silkiness to this refined, well aged wine. The finish is packed with dark fruit and integrated tannins. Overall, this wine seems much younger than its 18 years because the fruit is still vibrant; however it clearly benefitted from bottle time because of the silky mouthfeel and resolved tannins.

  February 20, 2012 - - Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of hay/straw, moldy and alcohol. It's balanced and has flavours of blackberry, licorice anise and alcohol with a medium/full body. Fleshy texture with a medium finish.

  November 23, 2010 - Was concerned that it was over the hill and the victim of less than ideal cellaring but it drank very nicely. Tannin's were well integrated and the fruit was still there, though pretty muted.

  May 31, 2008 - I was afraid this would be over the hill -- thankfully, it was rather nice. Decanted and consumed within a 3 hour window.
