March 17, 2018 - This '97 was showing well revealing bright, vibrant black berry and black current fruits. Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, the fruit was accented with tones of cedar, tobacco leaf and hints of sweet oak and dark mocha, turning to a moderate, soft tanning finish.

November 2, 2016 - Decanted at 5pm for drinking with dinner starting at 7pm. Dark garnet colored with just a tinge of bricking. The Nose has lots of cedar, pipe tobacco and blackberry with a hint of cocoa. There is a bit of what seemed at first like a little corking but probably more likely a little oxidation or madierization. On the palate there isa lot of tobacco, cedar, dark chocolate and black fruits with a chewy mouth feel and a little balsamic on the finish. Very enjoyable but it seems that this vintage has been consistently underwhelming compared to the 1994 and 1999.

January 24, 2015 - Deep dark garnet. Nose of creamy oak/vanilla, cedar, blackberry and earthy mushroom. Flavor profile reflects the nose. Light elegant mouthfeel. Not as rich and chocolatey as some other vintages I have had. Aftertaste pleasant but not that long.

September 4, 2010 - Still drinking fabulously. Smooth and plush, with considerable depth and ripeness. Lots of fruit on display, with mint undercurrent. Fantastic with grilled leg of lamb.
