January 29, 2023 - Tasted at a friend’s house, double decanted at 3pm and tasted over 7 hours. This was way better than any previous bottles I’ve had. Bright translucent medium to dark garnet. Huge chocolate covered cherry early then all sorts of layers like eucalyptus, mint, vanilla, fresh turned earth, ripe plum and cassis. Nice bright acidity, integrated tannins. Beautiful elegance and balance. No sign of age. Long aftertaste with chocolate and a port-like finish. Nice with roasted pork.

April 17, 2021 - Unbelievable. Did not need to open up. Casual Friday night after a long week. Sometimes it’s just that simple

March 17, 2018 - This '97 was showing well revealing bright, vibrant black berry and black current fruits. Dark garnet colored, medium full bodied, the fruit was accented with tones of cedar, tobacco leaf and hints of sweet oak and dark mocha, turning to a moderate, soft tanning finish.

November 2, 2016 - Decanted at 5pm for drinking with dinner starting at 7pm. Dark garnet colored with just a tinge of bricking. The Nose has lots of cedar, pipe tobacco and blackberry with a hint of cocoa. There is a bit of what seemed at first like a little corking but probably more likely a little oxidation or madierization. On the palate there isa lot of tobacco, cedar, dark chocolate and black fruits with a chewy mouth feel and a little balsamic on the finish. Very enjoyable but it seems that this vintage has been consistently underwhelming compared to the 1994 and 1999.
