February 20, 2019 - A lean claret, past its prime but enjoyable nonetheless.

November 29, 2018 - Slightly past its expiration date, this light-bodied wine offers more smoke, tobacco, leaf, herbs and earth, than red fruits at this time. The finish offers cranberry and bright cassis. The wines made today by the Cathiard are dramatically better and age better as well.

December 1, 2017 - From Art's cellar. One hour or so decant through a screened funnel. Wine was clear, some sediment. In the bowl, the wine was garnet with slight bricking on the rim. On the nose, aromas of black currant, lead pencil and some bell pepper. In the mouth, wine was very soft and smooth; tannins all resolved. Red fruit, cedar and watercress after a medium-long finish. Lovely wine at 35 years. Wine was $14.55 in 1990.

June 9, 2017 - Decanted for 25 minutes. Very soft, elegant, earth and caramel on the nose in addition to cooked red fruits.

On the palate, completely mature, no noticeable tannin, very soft, with extremely sweet, vivid cooked red fruit, caramel, and a touch of dried leaves and graphite. Less earthy than I had anticipated. Could have used a little more acidity but overall so delicious with duck and ribeye.

February 20, 2016 - Opened two hours before dinner. Still a very nice wine with great taste and good colour. Aged beautifully.
