December 13, 2020 - Popped and poured - initially fairly closed but continued to open up and evolve over a few hours. Well integrated and balanced dusty fruits. Lovely drinking. Last bottle from the dozen. Great value purchase.
June 26, 2020 - Still quite primary but starting to show some development. Length and balance impeccable. Terrific value. Only one left from a dozen and drinking well now but could probably go another 5 years easy.
April 12, 2020 - Great blend at it's peak (for me). Perfect with roast lamb. Mint may be distracting on its own but just magic with the meal. Love the punch on the tannin.
January 8, 2019 - In a really lovely place right now. The nose is all cured meats, but the palate is a combo of mulberries and milk chocolate. Will likely hold for a few years yet, but delicious right now too.
October 14, 2018 - This was better than the last bottle. Fresher fruit giving it more life and feeling a bit more youthful. Plums, blackberries, mocha and herbs. The signature gravelly tannins are still there. From the first bottle I thought it was on the downhill but this one would suggest it’s still going up.
August 10, 2018 - Developing nicely and drank well (better?) on the second night.
April 23, 2018 - Best bottle yet for me. Still got some primary black cherry and plum flavours but also some hints of tobacco. Needed an hour open to really sing.
March 5, 2018 - Needs a decant. Plums, mocha, figs and blackberries. The tannin structure firms up with air and the palate freshens up to show more berry fruit. Still has a good acid line too. Interested to see how the next one goes.
November 16, 2017 - In the slot now
With time in the decanter leather, tobacco
Acid poking out slightly, not over the top.
No huge rush but I can't see it getting a whole lot better than it is right now
Great value
November 1, 2017 - My first experience with an Allouran with some age. i really enjoyed this.
