May 21, 2022 - Nose: red fruits, truffle
Notes: Had it with the Sandrone Cannubi Boschis 1985 which turned out to be a disaster. The Caparzo however was quite the delight. Developed very nicely after opening for 45 minutes, it's indeed very energetic with noticeable tannin in it still. Certainly the vintage played an important role as 1990 should be considered a ready and quality vintage. I am now curious about Caparzo's La Casa and its Riserva. This wine can be consumed now and shall continue to perform well for at least the next 10-12 years.

October 12, 2021 - Seeping, high shoulder, so time to drink up. Felt a little tired but still a beauty.

July 6, 2019 - Wow what a wine. This clearly shows the glory of sangiovese grosso on a perfectly stored example of this stunning estate from a stellar vintage.
Letter plum and a host of other flavors to include dried herbs and mince....this wine has it all.

May 20, 2014 - Fading but still very much alive. Bracing acidity portends an extended life, but drink this up as it will not improve with further cellaring. Not much on the nose. Still shows good fruit on the palate.

June 28, 2011 - Slight browning. Mature aromas of leather, tar, red fruits. Beautiful balance and still nice fruit. Soft integrated tannins. Drinking perfectly.
