June 2, 2023 - This is also quite nice - I just had a glass of the '07 Villero, and this shows different but also has it's own pluses. For one, it's showing more red fruit on the nose, which happens to be a personal preference of mine. Less elegant on the palate, and I generally find the Garblet Sue' to be the most rustic wine of the Brovia single vineyard releases. There is also a tiny bit of unresolved tannin on the finish that slightly detracts, but this is a very nice wine all in.

September 10, 2022 - This was not as good as my other bottles. The cork was very wet and crumbly. Although the nose was nice, with hints of dark cherry and tar, the wine had an astringent aftertaste straight out of the bottle. We debated and ultimately decanted. After 45 minutes in the decanter the astringency receded and there were nice notes of tar, green peppers, and wet soil, but not the fruitiness of previous bottles. I believe it was just bottle variation and not a signal that the 07’s are done.

August 15, 2022 - The notes on this wine are very positive. From one of my favorite piedmont producers. It's excellent, typical in flavor profile yet a bit of an outlier in other aspects. Someone says slightly carbonated - yep. The texture is just a bit wacky. Tannins are still rather severe. The finish leans green. There is so much to like - the rose and red fruit. Maybe it comes together in five years. I honestly don’t know. Great raw material, but did the heat throw it out of wack? (91++?)

April 8, 2022 - Spectacular. Tannins are receded and sweet. Cherry, blackberry, and herbs coat the mouth. Light, airy, caressing, kind, and soothing on the palate. So delicious. It encourages conversation, good cheer, and goodwill. A great wine.

March 10, 2021 - Barolo Lunch at SanShuGong. Drank in Grassl Cru. Tasted semi-blind.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of minerals and iron, ripe red cherries, floral violets, bits of herbal mint and spice. Developing.
On the palate, dry, lovely high acidity, grippy but still fine high tannins, elegant full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of ripe red cherries, sweet red plums, dusty stony minerals, iron, licorice, sweeter herbal mints with more air. Singing after 2 hours of air in bottle. Long finish.
Very very good quality. So good to have started the lunch with a bang of refinement. Great traditional Barolo vibes. Another 3+ years easily, but so good now already.
From the Altenasso cru ajoining the Bricco Fiasco vineyard in Castiglione Falletto?
