March 28, 2023 - Similar to previous note. It is served side by side with the 2010 Mugnier Les Amoureuses. The two bottles are very similar but the Les Am shows more layers and complexity. Fairly speaking, Mugnier’s 2010 is a bit light for the vintage yet they are so approachable and expressive now. 93+

August 2, 2022 - Pure and feminine Bonnes Mares with animal, herbs, flowers and red fruit. It does not have the structure or density of a Bonnes Mares, but it its ethereal and weightless. 93+

July 1, 2022 - This was the finest bottle of Mugnier I have tried to date (besting even the bottles of Musigny I have tried in the past). A definite showstopper - "wow" wine. Opened a few hours in advance but not decanted. This came out with a captivating and soaring nose that screamed classic Burgundy. Feminine but with a gorgeous earthiness at its core. Utterly delicious cool cherry fruit. While still young, the wine showed some fall leaves as a counterpoint to the dazzling pure fruit. The mouthfeel of the wine was truly silky and broad. Very long finish. Spectacular, and only at the beginning of what will be many years of wonderful drinking ahead for this gem.

June 9, 2022 - Fresh flowers, red fruit, herbs and aniaml on the nose. Palate is initially lean but it grows in the glass. A very feminine Bonnes Mares that will never be robust and powerful like Roumier. But there is so much subtleness and complexity to love about.

March 10, 2022 - Zachy's La Paulee 2022 (Le Bernardin Prive): So pure and clean, gift of the vintage. The terroir holds its ground, bold but elegant. 94

January 9, 2022 - Slightly closed at first, so I decided to do a quick double decant. Far more expressive after a bit of air, this wine is so delicate and pretty, beautiful aromatics. I'd love to try it again in a few years, I expect it will continue to improve for sure.

November 2, 2021 - Opened two hours before serving (no decant) the wine was immediately very pleasurable and we realised that opening it was thankfully no mistake at all. I must say I am not totally sold on Mugnier (not forgiving the poor Musigny 09 performance), this though delivered big time. Coming after a modern and polished Comte Liger Belair Colombiere 12 the different more old school style is immediately apparent. Quite gamey, but not rustic, very elegant and fragrant, mineral laced, hints of iodine and beef blood. A bottle that drank effortlessly. No crime to drink today surprisingly but surely will hold for 20 years+.

September 7, 2020 - Slow oxed for 2 hours before serving. Wild berries, animal, spice and citrus peel. A feminine Bonnes Mares that was transparent and weightless. Very nice. 94-95

    March 20, 2020 - <opened at home, drank with Ad>
Pop and poured into a Zalto burg glass. wow what a magnificent wine! Nose soars out of the glass, a high tone, floral nose with hint of spice. Ruby color with a light rim. Medium bodied on the palate but with an electric tension that dances on the tongue. Long persistent finish over 1 minute. My daughter's comment: "This is different!" Fresh and young and this is going to be even better in 3 to 5 years as it opens up more.

Just at the primary to secondary phase inflexion. 10 o'clock. Maybe 6 to 10 years more to peak.
