July 28, 2022 - Despite iffy store conditions, which resulted in a crumbled cork, this was a very rich, succulent wine that was widely enjoyed. This won’t try to convince you it is overly complex but it balances its heavy fruit load with bright acidity and buckets of raspberry fruit. At the end, it started to crumble and show some rot.

June 4, 2022 - Really nice still, soft perfectly ballanced tannins, the nebbiolo fruit in the start, a hush of bitter sweet and a long aftertaste.
I could drink this all day. S really likes it too!

June 28, 2019 - Olives, in addition to typical Nebbiolo perfume and dried strawberry. More one-dimensional on the palate. Yes, the acidity and tannins are in-balance, but lacks a concentrated mid-palate arc and finishes short. On point for a Langhe Neb, though doesn't reach the next level as this bottling can at times.

March 7, 2019 - Off bottle. Tasted oxidized, sour, and astringent with strong tannins. Don’t think it is cork taint, just did not perform well in the cellar. Hope your bottles are better

February 11, 2019 - During a blind tasting dinner of some off the beaten track stuff. The nose was good initially with clay, roses and tar, quickly turned a bit oxidative and dry on the finish

October 22, 2016 - Quite lush, well balanced tannins, dark cherries, tomatoes, cocoa. Maybe a bit closed, so might last for a couple of years more.

April 9, 2016 - More a Baby Barolo than a regular Langhe Nebbiolo: while the base wine is made from Langhe Nebbiolo grapes, also the wines destined to go into Barolo bottlings but show too much development during the first year of oak aging go into this blend as well.

Rich and open nose with aromas of ripe black cherries and even some cherry marmalade tones along with notes of sour cherries, some toasty wood, a little bit of chocolatey oak, light licorice tones, a hint of smoke and a touch of clove. The wine is moderately full-bodied on the palate, but also surprisingly acid-driven and firm despite the hot vintage. There are flavors of gravelly minerality, sour cherry bitterness, clove-driven spices, some sweeter black cherry tones, a little bit of ripe plummy fruit and a hint of bitter medicinal herbs. The ample and quite grippy tannins lend good sense of firmness and structure to the wine. The finish is quite firm, tannic and grippy with some alcohol warmth and persistent flavors of sour cherry bitterness, some sweet black cherries, a little bit of plummy fruit, light aromatic tones of withered flowers, a hint of crunchy dark fruits and a touch of toasty oak spice.

A balanced, structured and well-made Langhe Nebbiolo that not only punches above its weight in relation to the normally so modest appellation style, but also outperforms many a Barolo and Barbaresco from 2009. The wine is nicely fresh and structured for a hot vintage Nebbiolo with surprisingly bright acidity. Even at 6½ years of age the wine shows a bit too much oak influence for my taste, but this is still a very positive effort. To be honest, I'd rather drink this than most of the 2009 Baroli and Barbareschi I've tasted - they've been just too ripe, too low in acidity and too raisiny in style, unlike this fella here. Priced according to its quality at 23,90€.

March 31, 2016 - Miles from the 08. This shows a more generic, fruitier and more modern aspect of Vietti's style. I actually was looking for more structure, and I don't think it was just buried under the fruit. Maybe this just needs time, but I wouldn't bet on it.

January 22, 2016 - Classic Nebbiolo but with tough structure and heat... not the most elegant Nebbiolo. Should improve with years. Not yet ready.
