June 21, 2023 - Am Amoureuses Birthday (Asador Bastian - Chicago IL): Ripe and powerful orchard fruit from start-to-finish with slightly sweet spice notes. This also walks up to the line of opulence but has the structure to easily remain balanced and classic. Great now.

November 5, 2022 - Pop n' pour and spectacular over a three hour dinner. So much of everything -- rich, fat fruit; intense spice, honey and mineral; and balancing acidity to keep it fresh and lively.

April 28, 2022 - Next to 95 Remoissenet. At first Ramonet was very shut and shy, and it took a good hour for the Ramonet electricity to appear. Incredible how in such a ripe vintage the wine has so much clarity and embedded acidity. Fat in substance but lean in personality with such a profound finish. 96+

December 29, 2020 - Dinner with Some Young Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Corton (State Street Manor - Chicago IL): Rich orchard and stone fruit right out of the gate with impressive density and a bright, well textured finish. Simultaneously rich and nuanced. Stayed persistent through the evening, possibly slightly starting to tail off after open 4 hours. Served alongside Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey 2009 Bâtard-Montrachet, which took much longer to come around but ended up equally glorious.

December 8, 2019 - Wine Group Dinner #173 Christmas 2019. This wine is a lovely green-gold with a rich nose of white and yellow stone fruits, lime zest, honeysuckle and touches of nougat and cashew. The palate is quite rich with delicious notes of fruit, honey and nuts balanced by limestone characters and fine acid. The overall impression is more opulent and slightly less complex than the 08 and 10 yet the richness and balance stand out and define this great Batard.
