Nice cherry fruit aroma.
Nice fruit with minerality and green pepper on finish. I liked it better than the Prestige -

July 14, 2020 - Decided to pull these from the off site after the last note mentioning that it was past its prime. I did somehow doubt that for such a young Bourgueil from an uber traditional producer, but figured I'd better crack into one since it's been over 5 years since my last. Fundamentally, the wine is gulpable. I am on my third glass just an hour in, which is not much like me. The aromas do actually suggest the wine is plateauing, but I suspect that plateau will last some time. The notes on the nose express beautiful, elegant decaying forest floor with a mix of herbs on top, some char grilled red peppers, as well as perhaps some ground up chia seed. The aromas feel fully developed and wonderfully expressive, generous, and complete. Palate entry is soft in texture, and quickly showing some notes of grilled zucchini, grilled green bell pepper skin, and if you continue to hold it in the mouth, it most certainly begins hitting back with pretty significant tannins and acid. On the finish you immediately get a ton of acidity that envelops the whole mouth. As this reseeds, it reveals some puckering blackberry seeds (not the darkness of the fruit, more the seed), some very slight bell pepper note, and quite a lot of perlite or other flaky organic compound. Even a minute later as I manipulate my tongue there are hot spots of acidity that are awesome. I'm more with wineshlub on this one... this is exactly why we age a $14 Bourgueil... for a Tuesday night 10 years down the road. What a killer wine for a Tuesday night. Drink now and over the next ~5-7 years. It's not going anywhere anytime soon. Reading my prior notes, it seems this wine has fleshed out very nicely from its rather light early self.

July 5, 2020 - Past it’s prime. Nose of asparagus and green peppers. Wasn’t “undrinkable” - with flat herbal and vegetative notes - just not sure why I would.

April 17, 2020 - Popped and poured. Aroma of black cherry and chalk. Rich, slightly sappy flavors of berry fruit, with some leafy notes. Tingly cherry finish. Bright, lively, firm backbone, complex.
Every time I have a wine from Domaine Guion, I kick myself for not buying more. It is one of the most outstanding values on the planet. -

February 1, 2019 - My last of 4 bottles. Most recent bottle was over 3 yrs ago.
Earthy and delicious, with enough funk to make the Cab Franc unmistakable.
What a WFTM at $16 USD. Drink now.
