February 3, 2024 - Cru Wine Bar. $130. I am more familiar with Joly's iconic wine, Clos de la Couilée de Serrant but the first time with this one. Reading the other notes here, it seems clear that few are familiar with Joly's style. Golden even slightly orange in the glass with an inviting, intriguing nose. Honeysuckle, beeswax, lanolin all present with maybe some bruised apple hidden in there as well. The palate? Pretty close to magical. Round, unctuous, and enveloping this truly a special wine. Rich, tangy, and lingering, Joly was unique in many ways as were his wines. This is no exception. Extraordinary. 97 Points.

September 24, 2021 - UWS a random set of wines (@ JB): In the bouquet orange peel and some botrytis. On the palate a full bodied wine with tangerine, some sweetness and acidity.

October 20, 2020 - I found this wine hidden in my cellar and was afraid it would be way over the top and in a way it is. When I drank this upon opening the bottle my taste system was screaming oxidation and all I could taste was old apple cut with an oxidated knife. The wine looks yellow gold coloured with medium legs. After an hour or so and after decanting the wine opened up and gave away its hidden freshness. It smells and tastes like walnut, hazelnut, grapefruit, apricot, pear and has this distinct sherry like taste. It's a required taste and those who don't appreciate oxidation in wines should definitely stay away from it but it pairs nicely with vegan dishes that front smokey almonds and grilled mushrooms.
