Community Tasting Notes 12

April 13, 2015 - This was extremely boring at first. Basically, it was just grape juice with alcohol. We decided it was too cold, and over the next number of nights had it at significantly warmer temperatures. It was improved, but still not very exciting, and with some underlying metallic tastes that I found offputting.

September 20, 2014 - Most of the previous notes have it nailed. Light, sweet, enough acid to keep it cloying, hint of petrol ... Key is the wine is very one dimensional. Very forgettable. Not bad, but forgotten before the finish can dissipate. Inexpensive, not obnoxious, but still can't recommend it.

May 24, 2013 - Simple, sweet wine with a slight backbone of acidity. Let's be honest, there's not much here. Distinct notes of petroleum, and believe it or not golden raisins. I've been searching for a good late harvest or ice wine in the $15 range... this is not it. It's not an unpleasant wine but there's not enough to keep my interest here.

About 2 hours later the wine has come up to room temperature and is showing much better. A drinking temperature in the 50s hid all of the fruit in this wine leaving only petroleum, honey and raisin.

Drink in the mid to high 60s... and give it some time to open up before drinking.

February 4, 2013 - Oooh, pretty! Noticeably lighter and less acidic than the Inniskillin. It seemed sweeter to me, even though the Inniskillin has more residual sugar. My girlfriend said the petrol note was more pronounced for her on this wine; it was less pronounced for me. Peach and stone flavors.
