May 9, 2021 - Aged wine divinity!!! Purchased from Anders Josephson collection in late 90’s then ideally cellared since. Cork near perfect. Colour dark and pure only very modest hint of browning at edges. On immediate open was “whiffy” and a bit astringent. Immediate taste was combo of fruit, tart, clear oak and mid/end flatness - was a little worried. Only took 1/2hr decant for it to transform into a thing of beauty. So smooth, so balanced, even elegant and then opening further to more richness (but structure always apparent). As someone said ‘like drinking velvet’. More black fruit driven with red fruit edges. Leather and vanilla also deeper meaty flavours. So easy and so cherished - decanter was emptied in a flash with people wanting more. A magic experience. Absolutely at peak or plateau.

December 24, 2018 - Still drinking very well although suspect should not wait much longer; really opened up with 2 hrs decanting

March 23, 2018 - Farewell to Phil: Licorice, herb, plenty of oak to go with the ripe fruits - maybe a little bit too much oak still here. The palate has the same sweet fruit style, with the oak pushing to the fore as well. Very primary still and a bit hard to love right now.

July 16, 2017 - intact cork - dark ruby red with just a touch of garnet on the rim - minty eucalyptus nose that would have fooled me to pick this as a California cab - dark cherry and cassis nose, some tobacco but not nearly the complexity of the 75 Bordeaux it was paired with - full rich mouth with excellent acid, fruit balance, tannins still somewhat prominent - medium long finish - held up to grilled lamb and beef very nicely - for me, this bottle is at its peak right now, and a very impressive effort for a 24-yer-old Aussie cab
