April 11, 2021 - Not sure what to make of this wine. Have been putting off trying it based on Griggs' note, but way more drinkable than expected. Slight prickle blew off fairly quickly and no other faults to note beyond an utter lack of typicity. at 13.5 years this bottle has (d)evolved to straight cherry juice. No secondary/tertiary character, no minerality, no sense of place. It's soft, fruity and very unremarkable. Although the components are balanced, I cannot imagine a scenario in which this gets any better with age. Manage your expectations and drink up.
May 22, 2016 - Costiera Amalfitana; 5/16/2016-5/25/2016: Carbonation (also mentioned in dbay's note), a major flaw. Otherwise, tilted toward the medicinal side of Taurasi, cough drops, tangy grape moving to plum, steeped tea leaves. I drank it, so you don't have to.
January 29, 2015 - aromas of spice and earth upon opening. On the palette, plums, chocolate, cinnamon, and a firm tar finish. Would have rated higher but some carbonation that threw off the full effect.
September 29, 2013 - Russk.plum spice earth touch of tar. 91 points on day 2.
November 11, 2012 - Still excellent
July 14, 2012 - Fantastic and ready to drink. One of the best Aglianicos I have tried.
July 14, 2012 - RussK WSW Crazy Italian Event. My WOTN. Tastes like full bodied barolo, ready to drink now. Buy some.
