January 22, 2022 - Dang, the last CellarTracker note on this was 6-7 years ago! I originally saw this label and poured by reflex. Can anyone resist a Coach Insignia? After the first huff, I knew one thing. This was no current release but...dang, did I see 2002 on the label?? In a sea of 2012s, this "Bordeaux vertical" wine was impressive to say the least. It is holding up well. Nose and palate of chocolate and coffee bean with ae muted black fruits and creme de cassis. A little abrupt on the finish with tannins that have all but paid their dues with the house. Rounded and ready. If you have these, the Durand needs to find their way to the corks sooner than later!
September 16, 2015 - Dark and opaque. Rich and elegant. Earthy dark fruits with mushrooms and tobacco. A fine hybrid taste of Napa and Bordeaux.
July 11, 2015 - Very drinkable. Beyond peak. Paired well with filet mignon. If you have it, drink. Limited bottle life left.
June 12, 2015 - Ready to go. Balanced. Just enough fruit left to make it beautiful.
January 21, 2014 - reading the other notes i decided to try the first of the three bottles i had.
The wine was perfect, big fruity nose, rich ruby color no sign of discoloration, smooth on tounge big fruity taste jammy i guess ,well balanced, no tannins on the finish. I went ahead and drank the other two bottles with guests for dinner the next day they loved it
December 25, 2013 - Fruity yet mature. Not going to evolve any more.
November 7, 2013 - I loved the density and viscous character of this complex rich wine, but it would have been better a year or two ago. Too ripe for my palate with dominant white raisin flavors. Reminded me of a Clarendon shiraz. However, the wine has pedigree.
September 4, 2013 - Good, but not up to previous bottles, that were great.
February 9, 2012 - No detailed notes. Initial impression is of a very big wine...rich and fairly masculine flavor profile that has a tarry, oak character this is well balanced by full, rich, dark fruits. Without the overt sweetness that often accompanies a wine with this depth. 93-94 points.
December 24, 2010 - 02 Has to be my favorite vintage ever in Napa. The wines are so approachable, yet maintain excellent balance and youthful character.
Color: dark core with silky red velvet edges
Nose: lush and dark fruits, mocha notes, Loamy earth notes
Palate: rich and lush black cherry, currants, cassis, silky tannins treat the palate to a complete experience. Long 60 second finish.
