June 21, 2020 - Some amber in the hue and even a bit of brown at the rim.

Even after aeration and an hour of decanting, was very closed at first, but after a bit in the glass, it really opened and was quite enjoyable. Well balanced and lush. Earthy, maybe truffle or mushroom. Dried cherries and plum.

    Enjoyed to the end.

May 16, 2020 - From Magnum and decanted 2.5 hours. Fabulous strawberry and cherry predominant. Some spice and tar as well. Prevalent tannins. Lovely texture in the mouth. Very well made. Lots of life left in this. Really worth trying.

    January 17, 2020 - Nase:

January 2, 2020 - 2009 Domaine du Pégau Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence was fully mature and ready to drink now. The maturing Châteauneuf-du-Pape was clear and medium garnet in colour with brown rim and significant fine sediments. The nose was filled with sour red cherries, forest berries, thyme and bay leaf herbs, leather and iron rust. The funky Brett nose of bacon fat and animal fat were present but diminished over the past three years of bottle aging. There were subtle black pepper, violets and savoury Worcestershire sauce in the background. On the palate, it was medium-bodied, balanced with medium-high acidity and medium level of fine-grained tannin. Flavours of liqourice, earth and mixed berries lingered in the long savoury and satisfying finish.
It is ready for consumption now. Bottles properly stored could be consumed over the next few years for early stages of maturity.
According to Stephen Tanzer, the blend composed of 80% Grenache, 6% Syrah, 4% Mourvèdre and 10% other permitted Rhône varieties.
