June 28, 2019 - Like most 2009 CDPs this is in a very good drinking spot right now. Not so hot, ripe and extracted as 2001, 2005 or 2007s and more ready than the 2010s which need more time to soften and open up. Perfectly fine example dominated by the softness of Grenache along tertiary and some brett aromatics (which you have to like). Still quite some aromatic pressure but embedded in a very fine frame.

TN: Lots of barnyard funk, earth, leather and red fruit on the nose. On the palate additional aromas of herbs and savoury meaty notes but with a strong core of red fruit. Not to sweet or fruity, not to ripe, dominated by the grape and terroir expression. Nice intensity, medium+ delineation, very good length and lots of very fine tannins. Wonderful harmonious and a treat to drink right now.

Decanting: From double magnum. No decant needed. Was singing from the get-go.

June 22, 2019 - Flintstone, earth and leather. Heavy and layered texture. Was quite a challenge to tase along a 23 wine Saxum tasting. Was clearly more old world in style, with a cooler fruit profile. Just entering the drinking window now in my view. Drank from double magnum.

February 8, 2019 - Wow, Was blown away by this bottle. One of the best Pegau Reservee I've had if my memory serves me. Classic Pegau a little dirty, touch of barnyard yet super complex with a nice raspberry kirsch, underbrush, herbs and licorice on the nose and palate. Such a unique complex wine.

December 26, 2018 - (magnum) A monumental CdP. Ripe fruit, funky garrigue and a complete, complex personality that belies its youth. A complete wine that will thrill for years to come. Not for lovers of fruit bomb southern Rhône’s, but for folks that love the unique characteristics of the region. Inspiring. (98)
