May 23, 2022 - Whites by more famous Red makers.....& vice versa. (Grill Room, Hong Kong Country Club, Shouson Hill, Hong Kong): Briefly decanted. Almost totally opaque deep ruby red. Nose is really lovely classic Cab Sav blackberry but with the green leaves. Palate is tart, tannic but perfectly fruited blackberry fruit. It is just so primary and so young… but gorgeous. Nice length . Come back in 5-10 years. 91-92 for now but should improve. Thanks as always, Daniel!

September 1, 2019 - From a bottle purchased upon release and cellared in pristine fashion, this wine was double-decanted, allowing approximately two hours in decanter prior to funneling back into the cleaned bottle. It was then taken to a walk-around wine and food party, where it was serially sampled over an additional two hours. Medium garnet in color, this 27-year-old Napa Cab still has a beautiful core of red cherry fruit that is garnished with complex notes of leather, allspice, cocoa, earth and cigar box. Medium-bodied, freshly acidic and with fully resolved tannins, it stays plump on the middle palate and throws no heat from its 13.5% alcohol. Finishing long and silky smooth, this is a testament to the quality of the producer as well as to the overall quality of the '92 vintage in the Napa Valley. Comparably cellared bottles should reach their 30th birthday with grace. Drink now-2022.

May 15, 2019 - Nice ruby color. The nose was amazing. Bright, complex and relatively young. it was hard to get my nose out of the glass. A real beauty. However, the palate does not live up to the expectation. Round and delicate tannins but a bit short. Very nice wine though.

May 16, 2012 - Light on its feet, bright red fruit, drinking young. Cianti like. Great entry, good mid palate but finishes with too much acid,

May 5, 2012 - Deep red in colour, not much bricking. Cassis, blackberry, earthiness, mint and a little anise on the nose. Medium bodied with black fruit and leather on the palate. The tannins are low and fully resolved at this stage which makes for a smooth glass of wine. The finish is medium in length with black fruit. Great bottle, enjoyed it with grilled spice-rubbed medium rare tenderloins. I have a few more bottles which I'll drink within the next year.

April 28, 2012 - Popped this 20 year old beauty last night with a couple of Prime NY Strips (so what else is new). Had a subdued musty/mushroomy bloom from the decant. The nose opened up slightly over the course of the evening but never got too expressive - more like a Bordeaux nose than a Calif. Cab. Mouthfeel was great, all tannins had disappeared but the wine still had its structure intact. I've got 2 more - probably a couple years to age at most

December 8, 2011 - Tasty, although the acid level was a bit high. My guess is that it is fading rather quickly now.
