February 8, 2017 - This wine continues to impress. 3rd bottle in last 12 months. Hitting it's stride. Drink now but delicious over 3 days. Dropped off a little on day 4.

October 31, 2014 - Color shows slight age, Blackberry jam, dark cherry, hint of jasmine tea and plum on nose, some heat on nose, med+ acid, lots of black fruit with nice balance on palate, med finish. Some heat on finish. Richer than I expected for Sonoma Mountain. One of the best wines I've had from La Follette, but tips the scales at 14.6 ABV.

March 15, 2014 - very enjoyable juicy pinot. drinking beautifully right now.. followed a 2011 domaine latour-giraud puligny-montachet champs canet 1er cru, and this definitely pleased the crowd...1st bottle I opened of this was badly flawed, but this certainly didn't disappoint.

February 3, 2014 - A sign of a high quality Pinot. This was initially simple and non-descript but within a short 25mins or so, it virtually exploded with aromatics and flavors. Great fruit - macerated red raspberries with a tart cherry edge. Zingy acidity and a long, bright finish. I can't remember the last bottle but this one was impressionable.

July 18, 2013 - In this bottle, I sensed much more of a Burgundian quality. The first day, there was overt fruit that can't be avoided but the angularity to the acidic component was much more old world. Interesting that on day 3, the wine came into balance - with the fruit less overt and the acidity less tart and angular. Time will tell...if I can only be patient!

June 23, 2013 - A little heat on the nose, but wonderful black fruit and earthy tones with good acidity. Very restrained for a California wine at over 14% abv - I don't drink many wines this elegant at this price. Tasted next to Hansel, which is never bad QPR, but this wine was much more sophisticated. Buying another few cases for a daily drinker.

May 5, 2013 - Delicious. Dark red and black berries on the palate with notes of allspice, black cherries, and a touch of toast. Great weight to this wine, much more nibble on it's feet than you'd expect with the dark notes that it displays.

May 4, 2013 - The only way I can describe this is "brawny". Brilliant ruby color. Primary aromatics, which bounced between bright, wild berries, dusty mushrooms and a metallic minerality. An immediate sip troubled me, dominated by a tart; nearly sour acidity. The wine mellowed out over the next 3 hours but, although not heavy or astringent at all, it was a real assertive bowl of juice. Slightly disappointed that the tartness returned in my last 1/2 glass. Looking forward to revisiting in the future but will have to give it some time and then, some air. (a potential 89 but not at this stage)
