February 14, 2020 - Pnp from Magnum. Consumed over the course of 3 hours. This is starting to hit a nice drinking window, but still has a lot of years left. Nose of blackberries, graphite, tobacco, forest floor and lots of beautiful floral aromatics. Really impeccably balanced and seamless, the palate is showing lots of wonderful complexity with primary flavors of black fruit, plums and figs along with tertiary savory notes of mushroom and leather. Full bodied, with integrated tannins and layers for days, it finishes with off the charts length. As with many great wines of this age, it starts lightweight, glides to a powerful but ethereal mid palate and finishes with remarkable persistence showing tons of flavor and nuance. Excellent wine and aging to perfection.

December 14, 2019 - Very good and balanced but not worth the extraordinary price IMHO.

May 7, 2019 - Decanted over cocktails and served. Perfectly balanced, focused single-vineyard Cabernet with medium body and stunnigly long and pure finish. The balance never leaves the mouth. Not the best vintage, perhaps, but a winner.

February 3, 2019 - The 2009 Harlan Estate has soft contours, plush fruit and tons of sheer immediacy. Now with a few years in bottle, the 2009 is just beginning to show the first signs of aromatic development. Deep, creamy and pliant, the 2009 can be enjoyed now, although it is sure to gain complexity over the next two decades.

August 14, 2018 - opened for brother's 59th bday. way over the top in all areas. silky and borderline elegant upon opening. alcohol very pronounced and port like. similar to the other dozen or so bottles of harlan i've had. why i bought so many of these was stupidity. after a few hours in the decanter lots of blackberry, raisins, and ....prunes. ugh, not prunes. kiss of death in a wine for me. should be a port. hard to drink, after finishing half the bottle over 3-4 hours we couldn't drink any more and had to move on to something else. sell all.
