September 2, 2023 - Nice mature Chianti. Holding on to its fruit well but softened a bit and a nice tobacco edge to it. No rush.
April 29, 2023 - Really impressed with this. The alcoholic heat is gone leaving cherries, dirt and cigar box flavors. Seems to really have hit its stride now.
September 29, 2022 - Simple et un peu trop acide.
Court en finale.
...à revoir.
January 6, 2022 - Wow, beautiful wine after 13 years. Bright red fruit of strawberry, cranberry, and red cherry. Still very fresh and vibrant with notes of tobacco, earth, mushroom, stewed tomatoes, and spice. Nice acidity and finish. Great over and over the next year or two.
January 2, 2022 - Very nice nose of roasted meat, ripe red cherries, nice iodine and acidity... Tannin quite present, but super silky, round mouthfeel, has very much integrated compared to it's youth.
September 9, 2021 - The wine look older than it smell or taste.
A little brownish in the glass. It is 12 years old, so that it is very natural for a 12 years old Chianti.
The nose is medium, still a lot of mixed berries and a little mushrooms. Chocolate. But the main nose is still berries. Nothing old in the nose at all.
In the mouth the wine is fresh, still a lot of acid and tannin. Wine is not aged-dry, the main palet is fruit and berries. With a very long finish. Acid dryes the mouth.
On the top now? The wine is very attractive and I'm sure it still will development further. I would like to have many of these - and follow them the next 5 years or more.
April 9, 2021 - 1st of 2, excellent cork. Decanted 1/2 hr.
Medium/deep garnet core, pale garnet rim. Nose is quite youthful still with attractive sour red cherry fruit, showing good purity, touch of spice and tea. Medium/full bodied on the palate, bright with red cherry fruit to the fore, spice, fine, integrated tannins, vibrant acidity and a good length finish. This is attractive and well balanced if not overly profound. Drinking well, no particular hurry - to 2025ish?
April 3, 2021 - Smudgy mid red with bricking rim. Fully mature nose of dried fruit, moist pipe tobacco, spicy wood and mint. I wouldn’t want to hold this any longer; it has sufficient cherry fruit at the moment but is beginning to dry out. Masses of cocoa powder tannins on opening but they settle down with air and indeed food.
September 20, 2020 - Great Chianti. Smells of spices, including cloves. Aged greatly.
