October 24, 2014 - Drank in honor of Eric Dunham. Beautiful nose of ripe stone fruit and citrus. A hint of petrol on the nose as this starts to show some age. On the palate it's full of ripe fruit and has a perfect amount of residual sugar. The acidity is still vibrant and works to balance the sweetness. I think this is just entering its sweet spot, so to speak, and will continue to drink well for up to a decade.

September 2, 2013 - Setting: This wine was pulled from the refrigerator, popped, and slow ox’d for 2 hours before tasting.

Sight: This wine is clear and bright. There is evidence of gas but no particles. Color is light straw to golden at the core with consistent fading to clear at the edge. Light concentration of color. Legs are thick and move slowly down the glass suggesting this is a sweet or alcoholic wine.

Nose: This wine does not smell flawed. Aromas are of sweet, not tart apples and pears. I do not pick up any traces of earthiness or minerality. I do not pick up any oak. I do not pick up any heat on the nose. This wine smells of bright, youthful fruit suggesting age is young.

Palate: This wine is medium-bodied. This wine has flavors of candied apple with a hint of lemon and rubber. This wine also has a very slight tinge of slate. This wine has no oak.

Structure: This wine is off-dry with a hint of sweetness. Acid is Medium Minus. Alcohol is Low. Finish is Medium Plus. Complexity is low.

Conclusion: This wine has too much residual sugar and not enough acid to make up for it. This wine is literally hovering at the "cloying-syrupy" line, yet this isn't made in a sweet/dessert wine style. The fruit and petrol flavors clash with the sugar and minimal acid. This wine is not in balance.

July 14, 2013 - Light, fresh, sweeter than I remembered, but not cloying. Quite pleasant on a hot summers afternoon. Hint of lemon in the aftertaste. My wife tasted elderberries. Good for salad and cheese.

June 4, 2013 - The color was a very light golden yellow. The nose was light citrus and apple. Flavors were nice but to me no distinct separation into components; there were fruits and a light crisp citrus and nice residual sweetness that were nicely balanced. This is a well made wine in a traditional German Riesling style, but at $17 is over priced compared to some of the other available Columbia Valley Rieslings.

April 6, 2013 - Opens a bit tight, but quickly shows a nose of petrol, white peach, apricot blossom, and honey. On the palate it's a bit sweet and a bit acidic, balancing each other well. Pineapple and passionfruit compete with the citrus and stone fruit flavors as this wine opens up further, and I feel it's best served with only a slight chill. The finish is crisp and drying, preparing the palate for another sip or bite of food.

January 31, 2013 - A pleasant bottle that probably had a bit more appeal than my last note. Still a bit short on acid but the stone fruit was nice with a shrimp pad thai... a nice sweetness balance that wasn't overbearing.

August 24, 2012 - Nose is melon, white peach, lemongrass, and a light floral note. Flavors are melon, white peach, light citrus, mineral, and a hint of honey. The wine has a delicate sweetness, but enough acid to avoid being over-sweet and to allow it to pair with a variety of foods (especially something spicy). Very tasty!

June 10, 2012 - Similar sweetness, fruits, and finish to Dr. Loosen Blue Slate Riesling, but $5 more expensive.

June 8, 2012 - Same as before. good citrus and mineral core, just a hint of RS. One of the bright spots in WA riesling. Not quite as bright as some others (Efeste evergreen or eroica) but it has great complexity and mineral.
