October 1, 2019 - Big nose of wood after opening - which blew off after a minute or two. Rich and full-bodied with flavors of blueberry, black cherry and cassis, and with a firm structure. There was some harshness, rough edges and drying tannins for the first few minutes -but it smoothed out over the first 30 minutes. A big wine, but more feminine and elegant than the Cab Reserve.

September 13, 2019 - Napa Vs. Washington State - Blind tasting (Bobby Van's on Park, NYC): Blind tasting. Very enjoyable. Long finish. It was a tough call ID'ing this as Napa, compared to the 2013 Avennia Sestina that it was randomly paired with. Having had a few bottles of this vintage less than a month ago, I'm surprised that it was so difficult to tell this from the WA state wine. My 2nd favorite of the night.

August 29, 2019 - Lovely blue and red fruit. Ripe but definitely not overripe.
The 25% Cab Franc absolutely makes this wine stand out from the crowded Napa Valley field. It is a pity that this balanced and, for Califonia winemaking, a somewhat understated style is underappreciated.

August 25, 2019 - Big dry or stewed fruit on palate. Predominantly currant and blue and black berries. Delicate short tannins with notes of pencil lead, copper and charred cedar.

August 16, 2019 - No formal notes taken, but shared with my table mates at a banquet and it was a big hit.
