July 12, 2021 - Slow ox for one hour. This has reached early maturity. Flavors of black cherry, coffee, spice cake, and bell pepper come through. Medium to full bodied, at this stage fairly open knit with nice balance and a satisfying finish.

July 5, 2019 - Drinking great now and I don’t think it will improve much at this point, so drink up! With that being said, there’s enough fruit left that I think it will continue to drink really well for another 3-5 years. Full bodied, ripe fruit, soft and we’ll integrate tannins and a nice long finish. Really well produced wine.

October 22, 2018 - Quite good but not the best version of this wine. The nose is terrific with raspberry, flowers and bell peppers coming through. The palate needs a 45 min decant to come into its own. Delicious crushed red fruit, earth, bell pepper with good balance, complexity and a medium finish. This is holding something back though - it doesn’t quite have the vibrancy and delineation of the best versions of this wine.

    October 30, 2017 - IMW - Cab / Cab Franc Panel Tasting 2018 (Hyatt, San Francisco): 75% cab franc, 10 cab, 10 merlot, 5 petit verdot. Co-fermented.
Deep ruby color. Gingerbread oak spice, stewed and slightly dried bell peppers (pyrazines), and a hint of ripe black cherry. Has a suggestion of a deep dried-rose aspect as well.
Full-bodied, feels 14% alcohol, strong elevated acid and medium plus tannins (a bit more papery than the cabs - not as sweet/refined).
    ~60% new French barrique.
