October 1, 2023 - Started off with a heavy, bruised, slightly oxidized pallor but freshend some with air, gaining meat, olive, pepperoni, fur scents. Palate still kind of ponderous and lacking vivacity.

January 19, 2023 - Last bottle and it was pretty rough. No fruit and no pleasure. Ah well

December 12, 2022 - Bright medium ruby color. Sweet red berries with orange notes on the nose. Notes of sweet, almost overripe strawberries, pomegranate, cranberries (especially in the finish), and a bitter red berry finish. Soft texture and a long finish.

October 3, 2022 - Surprisingly the cork came out in 1 piece. Heavy sediment in the neck of the bottle.

Had the bottle upright for about 24 hours but still pours a bit cloudy. Slight browning around the rim of the glass but less than expected for a 27 year old wine.

At first I noticed an earthy hint of Brettanomyces along with an herbal component. The house smells of lamb and rosemary which may be affecting my aroma perception of this wine but I smell a bit of rosemary in the glass.

Now the wine has been open for about an hour. There is subtle red fruit in the nose and most of the Brett has blown off. Still has an earthy herbal character.

The flavor has red fruit flavors, especially dark cherry along with red raspberry. Good acidity allows the fruit flavor to come through along with the herbal component and nice rounded silky tannins. This leads to a very long pleasant finish.

This bottle has been open for about 2 hours now and the fruit continues to open up. I like well aged CDP's and this bottle has all of the organoleptic qualities I enjoy with wines from this region.

Overall this is a very enjoyable well aged CDP.

July 4, 2022 - Funky and earthy - some barnyard. Still a little primary fruit. Delicious but drink now

July 3, 2022 - Loads of funk on the nose. Even after 30+ minutes it did not blow off completely. On the palate you still have it in your nose but by the back half of the palate the fruit and elegance was showing very well.

March 31, 2022 - Clear medium red. Roasted meats, tobacco, blood and black cherry. Dry cherry and spice flavours and a dry finish.

This is definitely past it’s prime but still holding on. Fades in the glass.

December 12, 2021 - From Magnum. No decant. Took about an hour to come around, but the Grenache fruit then started to bloom. A somewhat restrained nose by CDP standards, but the Grenache, dried herbs and some some Oak all came through on the nose and palate. Very smooth. Silt stained bottle on the inside.

August 21, 2021 - Another almost unbelievably good bottle of this; the cork was only saturated about 1/4 of the way up; the nose was full of crystalline pure red fruits, tobacco, garrigue, and floral notes; there was definitely some mature notes, but the freshness of the fruit was impressive. The palate was perfectly balanced and showed great fruit and earth notes. Long finish that was all in harmony. This is the type of Chateauneuf I like to drink, but there seems to be less of it around now...
