April 28, 2024 - Pop and pour this was tight new world fruit on the nose with an acid- and tannin-driven old world palate.
Two hours of decanting reveal luscious dark fruits, chocolate, coffee and graphite and a round, balanced Cab palate approaching perfection. Earthy and oaky. Hanger steak au poivre and chocolate for dessert. This is at its peak and should be approached soon.
August 4, 2023 - Most recent tasting notes capture (no pun intended) the wine profile and tasting notes. First of seven I bought and enjoyed this wine a lot. Smooth and integrated tannins with a wonderful note took about 30 minutes for this wine to reveal itself. Enjoyable and glad i still have half a case to enjoy over the next few years.
March 5, 2023 - Lovely wine that we enjoyed on its own after dinner . Fully mature, it still was deep purple with no bricking. Nose of cassis and smoked tea. Body was round dark fruit with resolved tannins and enough acid for balance Long finish It probably can cellar longer but it was drinking in its moment. Enjoy. FYI I have a cold natural cellar so my wines age slowly. I had this as a drink by 2022.
August 24, 2020 - Ready to drink with minimal decanting needed. Peak of lusciousness.
August 31, 2019 - Aged well, and ready to go. Tannins are soft & smooth. Minimal sediment. Slightly elevated, but well integrated acidity is what’s keeping it in a good spot. Don’t wait much longer on these.
February 19, 2019 - See previous note, still spot on, a very nice bordeaux blend that is holding up well.
September 16, 2018 - Should have waited on that first bottle 4 years ago. This is drinking well now. Dark purple no brick showing. Nose is cassis and some vanilla and spice. Body is well rounded cassis and dark fruits soft tannins decent acid structure. Notes of tobacco and chocolate Good finish. Hold for awhile or drink over the next few years.
May 12, 2018 - Really impressive stuff. Not yet ats its peak. Still has some structure to integrate, but with that a very nice effort now. Notes of dark cherries, some plum and a touch of clove. Well structured on the palate, but abundant fruit guiding the finish. Drank after a two hour decant day 1, corked and put into the fridge then consumed day 2 and held up very well, could've gone another day.
November 20, 2016 - Three hour decant, this could use several hours more at this stage in its life to open up further. A great nose of a merlot driven bordeaux blend with dark, jammy fruit and light tobacco. The palate is heavy on tannins to begin with, with quiet acidity. Dark cherry, tobacco and chocolate with a smattering of vanilla round out the full bodied, rich mouthfeel. This needs several more years of cellar time or a ton of air, after about six hours open it showed what it can be with a shift to a slightly sweeter, more complex wine.
