August 10, 2015 - Nose of lime, matchsticks, wax, and peach pits. The pits and matchstick connect to a saline and brothy aspect. The palate shows a lot of acid, not quite in balance - lime, peach, bitter peach pit. The acid is really searing at the end and not connected to that much - some minerality and lime. This hasn't aged as well as a German Riesling would. Nose - 4.5/6, Palate - 4/6, Finish - 3.5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 0.5/2 = 12.5/20.

November 27, 2013 - Crisp and clear nose of lime, minerals, slate, grapefruit, lemon, peach pit. A little riper than previous bottles - some saline and chicken stock. Powdered stones. Enters fresh with lime, minerals, crushed stones and lemon, then grows more burly - more than previous bottles with some bitter peach peach, saline, and chicken stock. This continues into the bitter and concentrated finish which is stony, salty, with peach pit and tart lemon. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 4.5/6, Finish - 4/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15/20.

July 10, 2013 - Light gold. Serious vivacity and crunch on the nose. Lots of lime, peach, peach pit, cumin, nutmeg and other brown spices. Some florality, minerals and metals. Focused yet sweet and intense. Almost has a creaminess - like a strawberry and some chicken broth like a Prager Klaus. Quite complex. Palate enters similarly with lots of intensity, snap and acid: bitter peach pit, lime. Very driven. Broadens in the mid-palate to include spices and that broth aspect -gets somewhat heavier (not a flaw, just a change). Lots of saline extract on the end palate that continues into the long finish, along with bitter peach pit. This has put on weight as it has aged. It almost reminds me of a Prager Smaragd with the yellow, broth and saline aspects if it wasn't for all that lime and spice. I think this is finally edging out the Lahoma as the best of the 3 09 Red Newt single-vineyards. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 16.5/20.

June 20, 2013 - This defines the Finger Lakes style: dry, slatey, with real lift and zing, and a touch of delicate sweetness on the finish. Textbook trocken, mit the faint petrol pedigree, but clean. Subtle flavors of quince, lime, slate, and spring flowers. This will age even further, and it shows what the AVA and Davis fruit can do.

March 14, 2013 - 11.9% Alcohol, 29 g/l RS, and 8.2 g/l acid. Pale yellow with a tinge of green. Just as I remember it, very lean, focused and elegant on the nose with a precise line of lime, green, apple, flint, crushed slate, white flowers, and peach pit. A touch of crunchy green pea and vegetal grass. Dusty and taut. Maybe a bit of saline or chicken broth. Just beautiful on the palate - airy, elegant and again, focused. Lime fruit and crushed rocks - very energetic, but also restrained. This is the thinker of the trio, and it may be moving up in the rankings to become my favorite - hard because the Lahoma is so delicious, but this is pure pure pure. Prominent acid builds, but never burns or even buzzes - it just melds perfectly with other elements to provide liveliness and drive. Saline, lime, broth and slate are present in the excellent and wide finish. What really gets me about this bottle is its balance and class. Kind of Feinherb in style. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17.5/20.
