August 20, 2023 - So...bottle #3 after 2 years....and the LAST bottle in cellar.
On nose: faint eucalyptus and oregano.
On palate: above flavour notes follow through, joined by fresh cigar tobacco , bay leaf, and sauteed mushrooms.
As it opens up distinct notes of cherry pit, Kona coffee and notes of dried beef and straw emerge....after 28 years, this cru bourgeois is moving into secondary and tertiary flavours, previous fruit notes have faded.
Soft tannins coupled with firm acidity have kept this wine, in a finely focused state, as a splendid food wine.
If you have any....drink up, no point in keeping this longer.....the extra point was given for it's clean focus and durability....went well with steak&kidney pie this evening.1 person found this helpful Comments (2) -

January 25, 2023 - Great QPR gives it an extra point. Evolved nicely and opened after about 30 mins of air. I appreciated the nice cedar, dried red fruits, and spice notes. Decent mouthful and the acid was solid. What old Médoc should do without being too crazy.
