June 29, 2011 - 3 years since the last one and this was just as good with a slight hint of maturity sneaking in. SO sad this producer is gone and I only have 1 bottle left!

July 28, 2009 - This stuff keeps getting better. A little hot on initial opening, but once it gets some air, a really smooth red fruit delivery with a super velvety mouthfeel and long finish.

June 14, 2009 - Still drinking very well. Smoky dark fruits with well integrated oak and a nice vanilla finish. Lush, layered, extracted fruit with fine, grained tannins.

September 12, 2008 - VERY elegant Cali Syrah. This stuff is very distinctive showing all great Syrah traits, but in a super silky framework. Versus other Syrah styles from the Rhone, Argentina, etc.. it is the smoothest while still displaying its Syrah-ness. Only thing missing is a spicy finish. This is a crowd pleaser. I'd also add that while it drank well after 1+ hour decanting, I think it should hold up for several more years.

October 22, 2006 - Havens Wine Cellars Tasting (Havens Wine Cellars, Napa, CA): Another fine effort from Havens. The 01 was a little bit more developed than the 02, which might need another year or so to reach its potential. Big, extracted fruit provide a dark purple colr. Aromas of flowers, raspberry liquer and spicy vanilla. Concentrated black fruit flavors with a touch of oak and spice, surrounded by firm but well structured tannins give this wine an elegant mouthfeel. Long, lingering finish.
