March 9, 2020 - Drink up - over the hill. Still enjoyable but dumped 1/2 the bottle. 87+/-
March 30, 2017 - Better than my last tasting. No formal notes. Was as good or better on night 2. Not out of balance on night 1 as my last tasting note from 10/2015 suggested.
90+/-
October 14, 2015 - Dark purple color & throwing sediment. Needed 15 minutes or so to come together. Big nose. Eucalyptus, black cherry, plum on nose with whiff of alcohol. On palate, sweet black cherry, mint, blackberry. Medium+ body, nice acidity & medium+ finish. A little out of balance given the alcohol. Not as good (to me) as last 2 tastings). 89+
March 16, 2014 - Clear medium garnet color with nose of black fruits and a sweet spice tone. Slight cherry and clove on the palate. Med tannin, med acid, medium finish. Great for sipping but also pairs well with any meat
January 30, 2014 - Continues to drink well. 91+
August 29, 2013 - Has improved from prior tasting in 1/2013. Decanted for 30 minutes and enjoyed with grilled chicken. Eucalyptus, black cherry, blueberry on nose. On palate, similar flavor profile with medium+ body, medium acidity & sweet tannins on long finish. One of my favorite wines under $20.00 - 91+ My comment preferring prior vintages no longer applies - this has been consistent (to me) for the '05 - '08 vintages.
March 27, 2013 - C: Opaque violet-black
N: Concentrated black fruits, vanilla, intense licorice, sanguine, minerals, hint of bell pepper
P: Gobs of black fruits, licorice, fig
F: Long
A big wine with intense black fruit supported by leathery tannins, this is a terrific QPR.
March 16, 2013 - Very nice PS, not over the top but inky, rich and voluptuous. Not sure it has much aging potential but a nice drink in the near term.
January 21, 2013 - Didn't take notes & did not decant (mistake). got better with airtime. 89-90 and will re-taste tonight. I liked prior vintages better but this bottle was not decanted.
June 18, 2012 - Still drinking very nicely.
