Community Tasting Notes 5

  • BAJRiley Likes this wine: 90 points

June 6, 2021 - See previous note. Appearance: red cherry/brick, ruby at rim. Nose: good medium intensity, same as previous note, also some blackberries, kirsch liqueur, a bit vegetal. Had a nice perfume (violets) once it opened up. Palate: medium bodied. The front palate gives way to a smooth finish.

February 5, 2021 - Decanted for about an hour. Appearance: red cherry/brick. Nose: good intensity with the expected tertiary complexity for its age. Very savoury - earth, leather, some liquorice, a hint of blackcurrant and restrained oak. Palate: medium bodied, well integrated tannins. Pretty good balance. Still drinking well imo but not for much longer. Not a superstar wine but good value. At this age it won't appeal to people who like lots of fruit but I like it.

November 11, 2017 - Oxidized somewhere in its life.

September 7, 2013 - Decanted for 1 hour, consumed at 18 degrees. Museum release.

Liquorice and dried prune nose, medium intensity. Leaf and a hint of sweetness on entry, coffee grinds, olive and black tea flavours on the midpalate, similar flavours on finish along with a cherry flourish and a touch of smoke/bitterness, slightly stewed fruit; medium bodied, drying and chunky tannins. Not much typicity or finesse.

February 24, 2011 - beautiful nose early, then later, finishes like an ashtray. No tannin present. Drink up
