Community Tasting Notes 9

December 5, 2016 - More open and expressive than my last bottle drunk almost 3 years ago. Solid Cote-Rotie with good balance, but not as expressive or sexy as other producers I like. A third of the bottle left for the next day went a little flat. Drink sooner than later.

August 18, 2016 - Vibrant purple with slight bricking at the edges, this wine (95% Syrah/5% Viognier) reveals focused aromas of bacon fat, white pepper and black cherry on the nose. The mouth feel is silky with added undertones of forest floor and raspberry. The finish is lush with the forest floor and dark fruits the predominant elements. 13% abv.

A recent gift from my boss's wine cellar, this wine is drinking nicely and is clearly in its prime drinking window. Drink now - 2020.

Imported by Fruit of the Vines, Inc., Long Island City, NY.

September 25, 2013 - The Dirty Dozen Tasting 2013 (Il Botaccio, London): Nose is equal parts floral and autumnal; there's a licorice note in there too. Silky but still quite tight. Good depth of flavour though. Very promising. 17/20. 2015+

February 16, 2013 - Needed time in the glass. Barnyard, earthy smell. Delicate mulberry fruit. Good fine structured finish, some acidity and slightly astringent tannin at the finish. Built for another 10 years?
